COOLIDGE — Melvin E. Melton, 77, a winter visitor from Cambridge, Wis., died on Feb. 11, 2011, in Casa Grande.
Mr. Melton was born on July 18, 1933, in Milwaukee and was a son of Mildred and Ray Melton. He graduated from Cambridge High School in Wisconsin in 1951 and joined the Army, serving in the Korean War. He was a sheriff’s deputy before retirement. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed playing cards and going to casinos. He collected gold and silver coins.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy A.; a son, Kyle Melton of Edgerton, Wis.; two daughters, Melinda Allman of Oconomowoc, Wis., and Susan Pillard of Iowa; a stepson, Ronald Gjertson of Mundelein, Wis.; a stepdaughter, Linda Ellifson of Minocqua, Wis.; three brothers, Lloyd, Ed and Clair Melton, all of Cambridge; a sister, Shirley Manion of Cottage Grove, Wis.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Jacobson, and a sister, Lil Sorum.
