ELOY - Melvin Valenzuela, 47, of Eloy died on May 2, 2016, at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa.
Mr. Valenzuela was born on Nov. 21, 1968, in Sacaton. A Santa Cruz Valley Union High School graduate, he joined a job corps and became an electrician. He later was a golf course groundskeeper.
He was a happy person and free spirit. He liked listening to heavy metal and chicken scratch music and was always with his sons. He was a diehard Arizona Cardinals and Arizona Wildcats fan.
Survivors include two sons, Nathaniel and Zachary Valenzuela of Eloy; his parents, Meleonio Velasco of Tucson and Georgina Valenzuela of Eloy; a brother, Cornelius Valenzuela of Eloy; and a sister, Florina Ramirez of Eloy. He was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Velasco; his stepfather, Ralph Valenzuela; and his stepmother, Patricia Valenzuela.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at 115 E. Third St., with rosary recited at 6. The graveside service will be at 8 a.m. Saturday in Eloy Memorial Park.
