BLACKWATER - Mercedes Roxann "Sunshine" Moreno, 16, of Blackwater died on March 7, 2017.
Ms. Moreno was born on July 5, 2000, in Chandler to Mary Marrietta and Ignacio "Nacho" Moreno Sr. She touched the lives of many and was known for her love of music, taking walks and having a great attitude about life.
She was mature for her age and had great ambitions of majoring in science or massage therapy after graduating from Primavera Online High School. She loved her family and was very loyal to her close group of friends, siblings, boyfriend, pets and especially her nieces. Like any teenager she enjoyed eating snacks and hanging out, especially at the canal, where she would write, think and watch the Arizona sunset.
Survivors include her parents and eight siblings, Bryce Jackson, Angelica, Aubriana, Zaneta and Ignacio "Mijo" Moreno Jr., Mariah Moreno, Dumaria and Nora Marrietta. She was preceded in death by two unborn siblings and her grandparents.
Wake from 6 p.m. to midnight Thursday, March 16, at the District 1 Multipurpose Building in Blackwater. Funeral Mass celebrated at 8 a.m. Friday, March 17, by Monsignor Ed Meulemans. Burial in Blackwater West Cemetery.
