SANTAN - Michael James Gopher, 49, died on July 4, 2017, in Chandler.
Mr. Gopher was born on May 25, 1968, in Sacaton to Evelyn and Michael J. Gopher Sr. He graduated from Box Elder High School and attended University of Montana, later transferring to Eastern Washington University.
He loved painting and sketching. He followed his cultural and spiritual upbringing faithfully and enjoyed mentoring his nephews. He loved meeting new people and outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing and camping.
Survivors include his mother; four siblings, John L. Gopher of Arizona, Loranda Gopher LaFromboise of Montana, Jesse Cauliflower, an adopted brother, of Montana and Lawrence D. Jackson, adopted brother, of Montana; several nephews; and a niece. He was preceded in death by his father.
Wake from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 7, at the District 4 Service Center. Graveside service at 7 a.m. Saturday, July 8, in Jones Cemetery in Upper Santan.
