Mike G. Alcantar, 80, of Casa Grande died on March 11, 2012, at home.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel. A scripture service will follow at 10, with Deacon Tino Tarango officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Alcantar was born on Oct. 13, 1931, in Tucson and was a son of Jose M. and Ramona Alcantar. He was a Korean War veteran and served in the Army from 1952 to 1954. He worked in construction and retired as a teamster after 20 years. He and his wife, Olga Gamez Alcantar, were best friends and celebrated their 60th anniversary. They were married at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Casa Grande.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His favorite pastime was bingo with his wife, where friends called him "The Man with the Hat." He enjoyed watching novelas, Mexican court shows and game shows.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Ruby Cortez, Diana and Alma Alcantar, all of Casa Grande, and Sylvia Alcantar of Prescott; three sons, Leonard and Adam Alcantar of Casa Grande and Michael Alcantar of Indiana; three brothers, Julio and Rudy Alcantar of Tucson and Jose Alcantar of Phoenix; a sister, Socorro Alcantar of Casa Grande; 33 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rita Archuleta and Maria Fernandez.
