Mike Kakar

Mike Kakar Sr., 83, a longtime Casa Grande farmer, died on Oct. 10, 2012, at home.
The memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with Harley Faber officiating. Inurnment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Kakar was born on March 29, 1929, in Blackwater and was a son of Michael K. Singh and Enacia Kakar. Farming was his passion and he preferred to spend time outdoors. He also enjoyed inventing machinery and horse racing. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, the Farm Bureau, Civil Air Patrol and Casa Grande Jaycees. He also co-owned and managed Kakar's Bar for many years. He helped children in need, took them in and taught them to farm.
Survivors include his wife, Emilia C.; four daughters, Josie K. Delsi, Yolanda and Alma Kakar, all of Casa Grande, and Donell Herring of Salem, Ore.; a stepdaughter, Rosemary K. Norrid of Casa Grande; a son, Adrian Kakar of Casa Grande; two sisters, Carmen Kakar of San Jose, Calif., and Maggie Kakar of Casa Grande; two brothers, Joe and Ray Kakar of Casa Grande; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Mike Kakar Jr.; a grandson, Marty Kakar; three brothers, Abraham, Carlos and Johnny Kakar; and a sister, Minnie Kakar.
