Monica Canizales

COCKLEBUR VILLAGE - Monica Canizales, 46, of Mesa died on March 24, 2017, at Mercy Gilbert Hospital.

Mrs. Canizales was born on July 8, 1970, in Los Angeles to Johnny and Rita (James) Juan. She was an educational assistant beginning in 2016 for the Sacaton Elementary School District. She enjoyed watching and playing sports, and her specialties were softball, volleyball and basketball.

Survivors include her husband, Erasmo; a daughter, Amelia F. Canizales of Mesa; her parents, of Cocklebur; and two brothers, Ricardo Juan of Yuma and Patrick Juan of Cocklebur.

Funeral Mass celebrated at 7 p.m. Friday, March 31, at St. Francis Catholic Mission by the Rev. Bill Minkel, with wake following. Burial early Saturday, April 1, in Cocklebur Cemetery.
