SACATON — Annette “Netty” Peters, 23, died on April 12, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center in Phoenix.
Visitation will be from 6 to 11 p.m. Wednesday at the District 3 Service Center. The funeral will be at 6 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Sacaton, with the Rev. Loretta Blackwater officiating. Burial will be in Sacaton West Cemetery.
Ms. Peters was born on Nov. 12, 1987, in Phoenix. She was a college student and was fun loving, full of energy and always smiling and laughing. She enjoyed taking care of people. She was a Co-op Pima Basket Dancer and taught two traditional songs and dances learned from her grandmother. She loved anything from the Pima culture and traditions like sweat lodges and pow wows and loved chicken scratch dancing and listening to all types of music, including oldies, reggae and hip hop.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Dena Thomas and Francisco Anselmo of Sacaton; five brothers, Lawrence Thomas and Kevin Domingo of Sacaton, Cameron Peters Jr., Marcus and Jerome Peters, all of Laveen; and a sister, Sylvia Peters of Laveen. She was preceded in death by her father, Cameron Peters, and grandparents, Sharlene and Lawrence Thomas Sr.
