SCOTTSDALE - Nicholas Alvarez, 68, of Scottsdale died on April 21, 2015, at Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at midnight today at the Alvarez home. Burial will be early Saturday in Salt River St. Francis Cemetery.
Mr. Alvarez was born on Jan. 30, 1947, in San Xavier Village and was a son of Nancy L. Franco-Alvarez and Nicholas Alvarez Sr. He served in the military and was an electrician. He loved working with horses and spending time with his family and friends, most of all with his grandchildren. He was a big fan of country music and loved watching John Wayne movies. People knew him for his smiling face and kindness.
Survivors include a daughter, Joanna Alvarez of Scottsdale; three sisters, Shirley Gonzalez, Charlene Solis and PaulaJean Gould-Lopez, all of Tucson; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia, and a brother, Ernest P. Alvarez.
