Nickolas B. Rangel, 98, of Casa Grande died on Feb. 7, 2011, at home.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with rosary recited at noon. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 by the Rev. Kevin Clinch. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Rangel was born on Sept. 10, 1912, the year Arizona became a state, in Glendale and was a son of Jose and Loretta Rangel. He was a farm worker. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Church and an usher for many years. He loved watching Westerns, especially John Wayne. He enjoyed hunting and camping with his sons and grandsons and had a great memory and shared stories with his family.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Sanchez and Nellie R. Ruiz of Casa Grande; two sons, Frank and David Rangel of Casa Grande; 31 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 90 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorenza; two grandchildren, Gloria Ruiz and Gabriel Sanchez; and two great-grandchildren, Louie Camargo and O.J. Avalos.
