Nicolas "Nico" Carreon-Moran

ARIZONA CITY — Nicolas “Nico” Carreon-Moran, 69, of Arizona City died on June 29, 2013, at home after a short battle with cancer.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel in Casa Grande, with rosary recited at 7:30. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Community Center.

Mr. Carreon-Moran was born on Dec. 6, 1943, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and was a son of Desiderio Carreon and Rosa Moran Carreon. He immigrated to the United States in 1978, seeking a better life and more opportunities for his children.

In 1982 he and his wife opened Nico’s Mexican Food, creating a chain. He and his extended family expanded in California and later in Arizona. He was hardworking, generous, inspirational and devoted to his family.

Survivors include three sons, Juan M. Carreon of Tucson, Rene Carreon of Marana and Jose E. Carreon of San Diego; a daughter, Erica Carreon of Casa Grande; four brothers, Calixto Carreon of Tucson, Santiago Carreon of Rocky Point, Sonora, Mexico, Jeludiel Carreon of San Diego and Filiberto Carreon of Tucson; six sisters, Eloiza Carreon of San Diego, Esperanza, Ardelia and Urania Carreon, all of Tucson, Enelida Carreon of Mexico City and Gisela Carreon of Tucson; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catalina Pinal de Carreon, in 2008.
