Norbert Peters, Sr.

Norbert Michael Peters, Sr. 61, passed away on February 18, 2021. Norbert was born on March 22nd, 1959 and grew up in Ak-Chin, Arizona. He graduated from Maricopa High School and was an exceptional athlete, lettering in football, basketball, baseball, and track. He continued playing football, baseball, basketball, and softball throughout his life and was known as a formidable, exciting, and fun player by sports communities. Not only was he a loving father and grandpa, but he was also a respected and loved leader and father figure to the rest of his family and friends. Norbert cared greatly for the community where he and his family lived. He supported the Ak-Chin Community throughout his life working for Parks and Recreation, Public Works/Sanitation, volunteered with the Fire Department and served on Community Council. He was a big fan of the Arizona State Sundevils and Notre Dame Fighting Irish and of playing the “air” accordion. He is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Peters Jr. and by his brother, David Peters, Sr. He is survived by his children, Norbert Peters, Jr., Susan Guerin, Michael Peters, Sr., Marlon Peters and Alaina Gonzales and his wife, Amanda Peters; his siblings Carmen Peters, Florinda Peters, Marlene Peters, Elaine Peters, Cecil Peters, Jennette Peters, Adella Zabawa, Eugene Peters, Flora Howerton, Manuel Peters III. and Karen Gardner; also survived by his mother Evelina Lopez. Norbert had 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
