ARIZONA CITY - Norma Heinssen Kringen, 81, died on Oct. 15, 2019.
She was born on Sept. 26, 1938, to Charlie and Lillian Heinssen in rural Colman, South Dakota. Mrs. Kringen graduated from Colman High School in 1956. She attended college for one year in Minneapolis. She and her husband and love of her life began dating when she was 15 years old. They were married for 61 1/2 years, with the wedding being on April 18, 1958.
Over the years, she was active in her church, with Girl Scouts and Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to be outside, working in the yard, camping or sitting on the patio reading a book and watching the critters come and go. She had a can-do spirit and was never afraid to try something new, help a friend or tackle a complicated project. She loved creating and was an accomplished knitter and bead worker and had recently taken up hand applique.
Survivors include her husband, Charles "Charlie"; a daughter, Beth Kringen-Stenberg of Pocatello, Idaho; and two grandsons.
Service at 11 a.m. on Nov. 18 at Central Lutheran Church.
Donations may be made in her name to Central Lutheran Church of Arizona City or the Salvation Army food pantry.
