Oliver Alex "OJ" Avalos, 9, of Casa Grande died Dec. 3, 2008 at UCLA Medical Center.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Apostolic Tabernacle. A service of remembrance will follow at 10, with the Rev. Andy Combs officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
OJ was born in Chandler. He was a student at Cholla Elementary School. He was a member of Apostolic Tabernacle and enjoyed going to church, playing video games, pizza and chocolate cake. He also enjoyed being with family and friends.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Mary E. and Ryan Cox of Casa Grande; his father, Oliver R. Avalos of Casa Grande; a brother, Alex A. Avalos of Casa Grande; two stepbrothers, Cameron and Corey Cox of Casa Grande; three sisters, Selena R. Avalos, Ashley Aguayo and Aulie-Auna A. Avalos, all of Casa Grande; two stepsisters, Angelica Fleming and Jordyn Cox of Casa Grande; grandparents, Joe and Nellie Ruiz and JoAnn Avalos, all of Casa Grande; and great-grandfather, Nickolas Rangel of Casa Grande. He was preceded in death by grandfather Angel Avalos Jr. and great-grandmother Lorenza Rangel.
