Ophelia Gardea Castillo

Ophelia Gardea Castillo, 86, of Eloy died on May 23, 2010.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 9 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Mrs. Castillo was born on Nov. 8, 1923, in Canutillo, Texas, and was a daughter of Benito V. and Amada Gardea. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She was a great cook and loved music, dancing and singing. She participated in the Foster Grandparent Program of the Arizona Training Program at Coolidge for 25 years. She loved animals, especially dogs, cats and birds. She was a member of H. Junta Patriotica and Los Rayitos del Sol folklorico dance group.
Survivors include two sons, Juan R. and Ignacio Castillo Jr. of Eloy; two daughters, Gloria Herrera of Eloy and Mary “Cookie” Enriquez of Casa Grande; 21 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and 32 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ignacio; two sons, Frank and Michael Castillo; and four sisters, Pilar Luna, Eulalia Perez, Mary Cayabyab and Angela Torres.
