Oscar Anson Barnett, 95, of Casa Grande died on Dec. 11, 2011, at home.
A private celebration of life will be held Saturday afternoon.
Mr. Barnett was born on Feb. 4, 1916, in Douglas. He worked for feedlots, as a foreman for El Rancho in Marana and for West Coast Land & Cattle Co. near Casa Grande. He was a buyer for Farmer John Meats and a mill foreman for S&D Cattle Co. in Litchfield Park. He later was a meat inspector for the state of Arizona for 21 years before retiring at age 87.
He received many trophies for his ballroom dancing skills. He would take trips on his horse and go hunting in the mountains around Casa Grande and Tucson. He was a member of Odd Fellows in Tucson and Elks in Casa Grande for 25 years and was a fan of University of Arizona teams and the Phoenix Suns. His daughter Erin said he was a cowboy who didn't "smoke, drink or cuss."
Survivors include two daughters, Erin McClish-May of Casa Grande and Ellen Campbell of Kent, Wash.; two stepdaughters, Victoria S. Carroll of Chicago and Theresa L. Hailey of Scottsdale; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives, Gloria J. and Nancy J., and a daughter, Linda L. Hershberger.
