SACATON — Patrick Sabin Johns, 91, of Sacaton died on April 1, 2012, at Gilbert Mercy Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at Sacaton First Presbyterian Church. The funeral there will be at 8 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor Aaron Johns officiating. Burial will be in Upper Santan Cemetery.
Mr. Johns was born on Nov. 16, 1920, in Sweetwater and was a son of Dennis Johns and Anna Scott. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a substance abuse counselor who worked for tribal government. He also farmed and helped his wife with their tamale business. He was hardworking, devoted to his family and liked caring for animals.
He enjoyed travel in his younger years and loved spending time with his family, especially the young children. He was an Arizona Cardinals fan, a very helpful man in the community and a positive influence on everyone around him.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Louise; seven sons, Patrick Johns Jr. and Adrian Johns of Casa Blanca, Rodney Johns of Phoenix, Robert Jones Jr. of Westend, Kevin Jones, Rondell Ramon Sr. and Travis Ramon, all of Sacaton; three daughters, Glinda Johns of California, Patsy Johns of Goodyear Village and Reynalda James of Blackwater; a sister, Permelia Rhodes of Sacaton; 55 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Johns; a son, Abbit Johns; three sisters, Esther Pablo, Muriel Lyons and Geraldine Carman; and a brother, Byron Johns.
