ARIZONA CITY — Pauline F. Bernal, 82, of Arizona City died on July 2, 2010, at Archstone Care Center in Chandler.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with the service following at 7. Pastor Jerry Rotan will officiate.
Mrs. Bernal was born on May 1, 1928, in Goliad, Texas. Her parents were Carlos Flores and Concepcion Garcia. Her family later moved to San Saba, Texas, where she met and married Pedro “Pete” Bernal. In 1954 they moved to Casa Grande, where they raised their family. Her first job was as a dishwasher at the Western Sundown Coffee Shop in the early 1960s. She substituted as a cook and soon advanced to day shift cook. She worked at Flo’s Coffee Shop downtown for the next 15 years. She retired from Kmart restaurant after another 10 years of service.
She loved her family and was a wonderful mother and good friend. She was always willing to help those in need. She loved flowers, listening to Mexican music and sitting outside in the evenings and waving to all the neighbors and friends.
Survivors include three daughters, Margarita “Margie” Apodaca of Arizona City, Marilyn Otero and Lynn Weatherford of Casa Grande; two sons, Pete Bernal Jr. of Chandler and Marc Bernal of Casa Grande; three sisters, Aurora Zapata of Lamesa, Texas, Eva Hernandez and Elena Gomez of San Saba; two brothers, Alfredo Flores of Hemet, Calif., and Cipriano “Joe” Flores of El Cajon, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Teodoro Flores; and a sister, Janie Vasquez.
