ELOY - Perfecto Bazan, 91, died peacefully on March 30, 2019, surrounded by his wife and family at his home in Tucson.
Mr. Bazan was born in Mexico, was a son of Celestino and Josefina Hernandez and grew up in southern Texas, surrounded by a large extended family. A devoted and loving husband, father, brother and "tata," he lived most of his life in Eloy. He was a professional house painter for most of his working career. Along with his wife and children, he was a longtime member of St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church in Eloy.
He loved fishing and hunting with his sons and friends as well as camping with his family. He also enjoyed an occasional trip to a casino. He was an active member of the Eloy community, including coaching Little League and leading Boy Scouts. Retiring in Payson, he enjoyed spending his days fishing and in the great outdoors as well as his many projects he was continually working on. He also loved having his family and friends over.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy, of 69 years; seven sons and daughters, Jim, Mary, Pete, Dolores, Laurie, Lil and Lisa; six siblings, Guadalupe Hernandez, Jose Tamez, Santos Zamora, Facunda Rodriguez, Socorro Hernandez and Ernestina "Tina" Rivera; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Candelario, Juan and Jesus Hernandez; and two sisters, Cruz Hernandez and Maria Gonzalez.
Rosary recited at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 5, at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church, with funeral Mass celebrated at 11:30.
