STOTONIC — Philbert Wahpeta, 59, of Stotonic died on July 18, 2012, at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the District 4 Service Center. The funeral will be at 6 a.m. Saturday at Upper Santan Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Aaron Johns officiating. Burial will be in Upper Santan Cemetery.
Mr. Wahpeta was born on Jan. 6, 1953, in Sacaton. He served in the Army and was a hospital maintenance worker. He enjoyed writing short stories and drawing and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Survivors include two sisters, Rebecca Wahpeta of Mesa and Doris Moore of Scottsdale; three brothers, Lyle Wahpeta of Sacaton, Clayton Wahpeta Sr. of Santa Rosa Village and Carl Wahpeta of Salinas, Calif.; numerous grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eilipe Wahpeta and Ella J. Moore; two brothers, Everett Howard and Elmer L. Wahpeta; and two sisters, Erma Hughes and Carol Wahpeta-Pinzon.
