Phillip Nathan "Phil" Emmett, 42, of Florence, a Casa Grande Fire Department captain, died on Jan. 24, 2015, at Florence Hospital at Anthem while off duty.
The funeral will be at noon Saturday at First Assembly of God in Casa Grande. Carpooling is urged.
Capt. Emmett was born on Aug. 2, 1972, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was hired as a paid, on-call firefighter in October 1999 and became full-time two years later. A dedicated member of the department, he was promoted to engineer in 2007 and captain on Dec. 9, 2007. He also was a hazardous materials technician.
He was recognized by community organizations including Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose for his service. He was named Firefighter of the Year in 2006 and EMT of the Year in 2009 by the department.
Survivors include his wife, Nora Cadena-Emmett; two sons, Jackson and Carter Emmett of Florence; a daughter, Angelica Rosas of Tolleson; his parents, Donald and Sherry Emmett of Casa Grande; two sisters, Dawn M. Bishop of Casa Grande and Cindy J. Emmett Gordon of Logandale, Nevada; and two grandchildren.
