Quinton Apkaw

LOWER SANTAN - Quinton Apkaw, 46, of Lower Santan died on July 12, 2014, at Promise Hospital of Phoenix.

Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Faye Apkaw home in Sacaton. The wake will begin at 7 p.m. at the Rachel Apkaw home in Lower Santan. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 7 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church by Monsignor Ed Meulemans. Burial will be in Lower Santan Cemetery.

Mr. Apkaw was born on March 16, 1968, in Sacaton. He was a farmworker and a hardworking man who loved to be outside.

He was a fan of the Arizona Wildcats, Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bulls who was always joking and spending time with his family, including his grandchildren, and his four dogs, Bruno, Wally, Sheba and Cowboy. He loved to dance, drive tractors and hang out with friends.

Survivors include his wife, with whom he spent 22 years, Rachel; four daughters, Viandrea Stevens of Santan, LaQuinta Apkaw of Chandler, Cornelia and Desiree Apkaw of Santan; two sons, James Stevens of Phoenix and Jacob Apkaw of Santan; his mother, Faye Apkaw of Sacaton; two sisters, Tanya Rapheal of Santan and Jolene Moffett of Oracle; two brothers, Valerian and Lowell Moffett of Santan; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Harless Allison, and two brothers, Cornelius Apkaw and Eugene Thompson.
