SACATON - Rachel Ann Apkaw, 56, died on July 28, 2019.
Mrs. Apkaw was born on Nov. 15, 1962, in Sacaton and was a daughter of David Francisco and Mary Edwards. A hardworking and independent woman, she enjoyed making chumath for everyone and supporting her family. She was giving and kind, always helping others, and donated to families in need.
She loved to joke with everyone and make people laugh. Her hobbies included watching "Little House on the Prairie," listening to Alan Jackson, dancing to waila and pakola and spending time with her grandchildren and friends.
Survivors include her mother, Mary Snyder; eight adult children, Sunshine, Sarah, Viandrea and Jaymes Stevens, Laquinta, Cornelia, Desiree and Jacob Apkaw; six siblings, Louella, Lorentine and Lawrence Allison Jr., Lamberta May, Salvador and Alonzo Francisco; and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Quinton Apkaw; her father; her grandmother Angelina Moffett; a sister, Claudia Johnson; and a brother, Lyndon Moffett.
Wake beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, at the District 4 Service Center in Santan. Funeral Mass celebrated at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial in Lower Santan Cemetery.
