Ramiro Martinez

Ramiro Martinez Sr., 67, of Casa Grande died on Jan. 2, 2014, at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church by the Rev. John Arnold. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Mr. Martinez was born on Aug. 16, 1946, in Oconto, Wis., and was a son of Petra and Eleno Martinez Sr. He served in the National Guard and was a mechanic for Abbott Nutrition. He was a jack-of-all-trades and always willing to lend a helping hand, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Church and enjoyed fishing, watching boxing, dancing and listening to music.

Survivors include his wife, Rose A.; three sons, Tony R. and Ramiro Martinez Jr. of Casa Grande and Alex E. Martinez of Mesa; a daughter, Sonia Y. Martinez of Casa Grande; three brothers, Johnny J. Martinez of Georgia, Ruben Martinez Sr. of Casa Grande and Pete Martinez of Mesa; three sisters, Yolanda Tapia, Mary Helen Petit and MaryGrace "Chachi" Zavala, all of Casa Grande; a stepson, Daniel Hernandez of Casa Grande; five stepdaughters, Linda Rodriguez, Lisa Pena, Lila Hernandez, Laura Vandenberg and Lydia Legate of Casa Grande; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eleno Martinez Jr., and a sister, Mary Jean Ortiz.
