CASA GRANDE - Raul C. Marquez, 72, died peacefully at home on Feb. 13, 2018, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Marquez was born on May 24, 1945, in Fabens, Texas, to Jose and Juanita (Chavez) Marquez. When he was 12, his family moved to Eloy. He met Teresa Martinez, who became his love and wife of 53 years. Together they created a family of 12 children. He had many friends and a large family who called him "Dad." They later moved to Casa Grande, where he was a foreman for the city Parks and Recreation before retiring in 1997.
He had a passion for animals and enjoyed attending to his farm animals, fishing, riding his motorcycle, going to casinos, watching football and especially following his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to their sports events. He was an avid Cowboys and Dodgers fan, but his greatest love was spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Raul Marquez Jr., Andrew and Steven Marquez, all of Casa Grande, Ricky Marquez of Lebanon, Tennessee, and Gabriel Marquez of Fort Lewis, Washington; six daughters, Cecilia Marquez, Alexandra Montijo and Angie Campbell, all of Casa Grande, Sonia Marquez and Renee Marquez of Phoenix and Marissa Marquez of Eloy; two brothers, Jody and Pete Marquez; two sisters, Juanita Pinon and Trinidad Rosales; 33 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia Marquez; a sister, Julie Marquez; and two brothers, Frank and Felipe Marquez.
Visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 9:30. Funeral Mass celebrated at 10. Burial in Mountain View Cemetery.
