Ray Smith

Raymond Edward “Ray” Smith Jr., 64, of Casa Grande died on March 30, 2011, at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center.
The service will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1677.
Mr. Smith was born on Jan. 17, 1947, in Appleton, Wis. He served in the Navy, including on the submarine tender USS Canopus. He later worked in railroad maintenance. He collected toy trains and enjoyed putting on roulette games for community charity events. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking and helping people. He was an avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Janice S.; his mother, Geraldine Arnold of Sedalia, Mo.; and a brother, Carl R. Smith of Lansing, Ill. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond E. Smith Sr.
