ARIZONA CITY - Ray "Papa" Thomas Jr., 62, of Arizona City died on May 6, 2015, at home.
Mr. Thomas was born on Sept. 2, 1952, in Tucson. He was a janitor and retired from the Arizona Training Program at Coolidge after 24 years. An avid Cowboys and Dodgers fan, he enjoyed taking trips to casinos, working on cars and playing scratcher lottery tickets. He paid attention to details while working and was known for his faith in Jesus.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Delphina; two daughters, Naji Thomas of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Destiny Thomas of Arizona City; a son, Marquis Thomas of Arizona City; six sisters, Christine, Betty, Annette and Denise Thomas, all of Eloy, Margaret Thomas of Arizona City and Janette Thomas of Crockett, Texas; three brothers, Frederick, Joe and Elvin Thomas, all of Eloy; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Thomas Sr. and Icyfern Mitchell; a brother, Jerry Thomas; and a grandson.
A private service was planned.
