Raymond A. Wilson

September 7, 1941 — August 20, 2018

Raymond A. Wilson, Sr. peacefully went to be with Jesus
on Monday, August 20, 2018. Raymond was born on
September 7, 1941 in Kemper County, Mississippi to
A.B. and Myrtle (George) Wilson and was the third of four
children. He was a graduate of Mississippi College and
New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Raymond married
the love of his life, Shelby Kay (Nicholson) on March 23, 1963,
and together they served in ministry over 55 years. Raymond
pastored churches in
Mississippi, Alabama, Texas and Arizona, impacting many lives.
He also founded Grace Baptist Church of Casa Grande in 1986
and remained the senior pastor until his retirement in 2006. A
lifelong servant, Raymond became a Chaplain for Hospice and
continued to touch the lives of everyone he met.
Raymond is survived by his children, Susan (Michael) Pitner,
Andy (Renée) Wilson, Jennifer (Steve) Myers; grandchildren,
Sarah (Cameron) Mengerelli, Joshua (Rachel) Wilson, Zachary
Wilson, Daniel (Alyssa) Pitner, Abigail Wilson, Shelby Rae
Myers, Jake Pitner, Riley Myers and Michael (MJ) Pitner; soon-
to-arrive great-grandchild, Dawson Mengerelli; and brother,
Roy (Kay) Wilson. He is preceded in death by his wife, Shelby
Kay; grandson, Tyler Myers; brother, Nolan Wilson; and sister,
Sybil Louise "Patsy" Jones.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Raymond and Shelby
Wilson on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Grace Church,
1319 E. Cottonwood Lane, Casa Grande, AZ 85122. In lieu of
f lowers, contributions may be made to the Raymond A. and
Shelby K. Foundation at gofundme.com/raymond-a-amp-
shelby-k-foundation. In honor of Raymond and Shelby’s lifelong
servanthood, the purpose of the foundation is to support young
evangelical pastors and missionaries.J. Warren Funeral Services,
Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel is handling arrangements.
