ELOY - Raymundo Mendez, 79, died on May 23, 2017.
Born in El Paso, Texas, Mr. Mendez lived in Eloy for 66 years and was a hard worker. Interested in maintaining good health, he frequently walked to work. He enjoyed talking to everyone.
He taught many people different things. He taught sports, sportsmanship and discipline to young people as well as the need to work hard and enjoy life. He loved planting and watering flowers in his yard and loved praising and worshiping the Lord. Baptized in Jesus’ name, he called upon him when in pain. He loved his family, and his wife, whom he called "India," was the love of his life.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Victoria; a son and two daughters, Raymundo Mendez Jr. of Eloy, Cynthia Rojas of Arizona City and Sonya Mendez of Eloy; a brother, Juventino Sambrano of Albuquerque, New Mexico; three sisters, Cecilia Montano of Arizona City, Esperanza Dittler of Portland, Oregon, and Carmen Henry of Albuquerque; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Irma Mendez, and a brother, David Mendez.
Visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Friday, May 26, at First United Pentecostal Church in Eloy, with funeral following at 2.
