Rebecca Anne Kulhavy

It is with terrible sadness that we announce the passing of Rebecca Anne Kulhavy (Mom, Gramms) on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 due to a hard fought battle with COVID. She was taken way too soon. She was born November 18, 1961, in Fayetteville, NC, near Camp Bragg. She was the daughter of parents James Deweese and Sandra Yanez.
She attended French Camp and later received her associates degree and worked for a few years as an LPN for Duke University and UNC Medical Center. She lived in many places during her life including New York, North Carolina, and Mississippi, and spent the final eight years of her life in Casa Grande, AZ, with her husband, Raymond. Rebecca loved genealogy, enjoyed traveling and sightseeing, was fascinated with the outdoors, had a great appreciation for music and always loved giving rescue animals a home. Having had the kindest soul, and never meeting a stranger, she’d give the shirt off her back to anyone who needed it. But they wouldn’t get off that easy, because she would talk their ear off. She was filled with empathy for those less fortunate and her heart beat for the underdog. She exuded this compassion in her everyday life; always caring about others’ well-being over her own, to a fault. She loved unconditionally with such grace. She believed that everybody and everything had a purpose and a right to live. She enjoyed traveling, from the mountains to the coast. Even though she lived across the country from some of her children and grandchildren, she’d make it to visit with them for birthdays and holidays at any cost; often "coincidentally" finding ways to extend her vacations and make the cherished visits last longer. When she was not able to visit, she made up for this with constant outreach. She was spiritual and open-minded, never judging folks for their beliefs and had friends from all walks of life. She loved music and art and was happy to share her favorite artists with everyone. A nature lover at heart, she found the beauty and solace in the Arizona sunsets. When she would visit back east, she always enjoyed the greenery. She was an extremely devoted Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, and Wife, always checking on family and friends and not going one day without helping one of them. Rebecca was the beloved wife of Raymond Kulhavy for 21 years and devoted mother to sons, Clint, Jesse and Clayton and stepmother to Matt and Katie. We are so fortunate to have had her in our lives, and the void that is now here can never be filled.
She is survived by husband, Raymond Kulhavy of Casa Grande; mother, Sandra Yanez of Casa Grande; father, James Deweese of Pocahontas, MS; sisters, Christian Gatlin Deweese of Jackson, MS and Kimberly Johnson of Pocahontas, MS; children, Clint (Ashley) Lewis of Berwick, PA, Jesse Lewis and partner Jennifer Creveling of Durham, NC, Clayton Lewis and partner Tasha Klock of Millville, PA; stepchildren, Matt (Carly) Kulhavy of Phoenix, AZ and Katie Kulhavy of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Kayden Lewis of Danville, PA, Liam Lewis of Millville, PA, Clinton Lewis Jr. of Berwick, PA, Carter Lewis of Berwick, PA, "grandgirl" Avonlea Lewis of Durham, NC, Sage and Everett Kulhavy of Phoenix, AZ;
stepgrandchild, Maci Klock of Millville, PA; nephew, Daniel Deweese of Mississippi and various aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her stepdad, Salvador Yanez; stepmother, Dorothy "Dot" Deweese; and sister, Beverely Eldridge.
We hope that this tragic loss will raise awareness to the seriousness of this virus that is devastating thousands of lives across the world. Her selfless way of living is an example of how we should all act in these trying times, and at all times for that matter. A beautiful life deserves to be beautifully remembered. The family is planning a private memorial service that will be held at a later date.
