Regina Brown

December 13, 1979 — May 25, 2018

Regina Lorraine Brown left this world surrounded by love on May 25,
2018. A native of Arizona, Gina was an adored and cherished wife to
Christopher Brown, devoted mother to Juliana and Isabella Brown, along
with her precious fur babies Woody and Vida. She was a beloved daughter
to Mina Sanchez (Gerald Kelsey) and Robert Velazquez and darling
sister to Robert, Alexis and Andrea Velazquez. Never one to back away
from a challenge, Gina left her home of Casa Grande in 2003 to make
her mark on the world. She enlisted in the US Navy with the dream of
one day getting a commission as a Naval Officer. In true form she did
not start this journey in mediocre fashion, receiving the highest award
for excellence at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes and repeating
this accomplishment again at Defense Information School where she
received her training prior to reporting to the fleet. Gina quickly raised up through the ranks becoming a 2nd class petty officer in just four short years. Because of her selfless devotion to her family, she left the Navy in 2008 short of her goal to becoming an officer. Gina returned to school and obtained a nursing degree which she used to receive her commission in 2015, once again receiving the highest award given at Officer Development School. Sadly, Gina was diagnosed with cancer three short months later. Her diagnosis never slowed her down and she fought valiantly for two and a half years even climbing the Grand Tetons only two weeks out of chemotherapy. Gina was an adventurer and world traveler who had a zeal for life that could only be matched by the love for her family. She will be greatly missed.
Regina’s memorial service will be held on June 2nd, 2018 at J. Warren
Funeral Home in Casa Grande, AZ at 4 p.m. In lieu of sending flowers,
go outside and plant some. Instead of sending your condolences, connect
with old friends and instead of going to bed sad, wake up in the morning and watch the sun rise. She would’ve wanted that.
