Rex Michael Bishop, 52, of Casa Grande and formerly of Midland, Mich., died Oct. 31, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital & Medical Center in Phoenix.
Mr. Bishop was born the son of Patricia and Vernon Bishop. He graduated from Dow High School in 1975. He married Ginger Selley on Feb. 13, 1982. With a passion for cars and motorcycles and most anything with an engine, he worked most of his life as a mechanic. In and around Midland, he enjoyed time with his family and friends and in the outdoors as a hunter and fisherman.
After surviving childhood cancer, he often had to push himself to deal with the resulting health problems. When the cold winters of Michigan made that more difficult, he moved with his family to Arizona in 2007. However, the climate change was not enough to overcome his worsening health condition.
Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter, Kevin and Melissa; his mother; four brothers, Max of Chandler, Roger of Casa Grande, Randy of Beaverton, Mich., and Richard of Glendale; and a sister, Barbara Thomas of Iron River, Mich. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Patrick.
