Maricopa

Reynaldo Miguel Moreno (Ray), beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on November 6, 2024, in Maricopa, Arizona, at the age of 69. He was born on June 30, 1955, in Florence, Arizona, to Juan Bazan Moreno and Rosa Gracia Moreno.

Ray was one of 15 siblings, growing up alongside his brothers Jesse, Pedro, Rafael, Ismael, Juan Jr., Luis, Domingo, Jose Thomas, Daniel, Ramon Antonio, and sisters Margarita, Valentina, Maria, Anna, and Adelita. He spent his early years in Maricopa, where he met his high school sweetheart, Mary Virginia. The two married on February 25, 1974, and together they raised five children: Mary, Ray, Jennifer, John, and Clint, all of whom called Maricopa home.

Ray's work ethic and dedication to his family were evident throughout his life. Before marrying Mary Virginia, he worked alongside his future father-in-law, Alfredo R. Moreno, in a pecan orchard. He then spent time working in the Hecla Mines in the 1970s, and after the mine closed, he pursued a career in truck driving. He attended truck driving school and went on to work for Associated Grocers, which later became Fleming Foods, and eventually Ruan, until his retirement in 2003. Ray then worked for Rinker until 2012, when health issues prevented him from continuing after his second open-heart surgery.

Outside of work, Ray had a passion for cars and mechanics. He enjoyed working on various projects, including helping his son John and grandson Jordan at the family business, where he served as a parts runner and helped with maintenance and restoration projects. Ray also spent time at the local scrap yard, forging a close friendship with owner Omar.

In his free time, Ray loved to visit the casino, where he enjoyed playing slots and blackjack. He cherished spending time with his family and friends, often sharing stories from his youth and reminiscing with childhood friends, including Ernest Gomez, Frank Garcia, Roy Salcido, and Melvin.

Ray was a proud grandfather to 17 grandchildren—Joseph, Angelita, Alfredo, Angel, Ray Jr., Jaydon, Marisa, Alyssa, Ashley, Amanda, Andrew, Jordan, Brandi, Anissa, Angela, Valarie, and Lillianna—and 9 great-grandchildren: Nathaniel, Juliana, Ayla Ray, Atreyu Timothy, Ace, Izabella, Romeo Ray, Luscious, and Samuel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Rosa Moreno; his in-laws, Alfredo and Henrietta Mazon Moreno; his son Ray Moreno; and grandsons Anthony and John Jr. He was also preceded by his brothers Ismael, Juan Jr., Jesse, Daniel, Luis, and Ramon Antonio, and his sister Margarita.

Ray will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love for his family, and his sense of humor. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, laughter, and love.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, November 15th from 4pm-6pm at Crossroads Church at 2024 E. Florence Blvd. Casa Grande, Arizona.

May Ray rest in peace, reunited with loved ones gone before him.
