STANFIELD — Richard Garcia Sr., 85, of Stanfield died on Jan. 10, 2013, at home.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Nelson Lorentine home, with a wake beginning at 4. Burial will be early Friday in Pisinemo Cemetery.
Mr. Garcia was born on Dec. 29, 1927, in San Francisquito, Sonora, Mexico, and was a son of Jose A. and Lupe Acosta. He was a farmworker in the Casa Grande and Stanfield area and in his younger days a rodeo rider and boxer in the Ajo area. Many times he would bring supplies to distribute at his home village. He was a hard worker and loved farming.
Survivors include five sons, Edward, Paul and Jim Garcia, all of Pisinemo Village, Dennis Garcia of Stanfield and Richard Garcia Jr. of Casa Grande; a daughter, Darlene Garcia of Stanfield; a sister, Annie Choughua of Stanfield; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Angelita; two daughters, Mary and Dorothy Garcia; and four sisters, Lupe, Margaret, Sarah and Maria Garcia.
