Richard Hickman

June 20, 1942 — March 17, 2015

SAN TAN VALLEY - Richard Hickman, 72, of San Tan Valley died on March 17, 2015, at Banner Ironwood Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Douglass Funeral Home in Ajo. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ajo by the Rev. Peter Nwachukwu. Burial will be in Ajo Cemetery.

Mr. Hickman was born on June 20, 1942, in Smithville, Missouri. He served in the Army and Air Force during the Vietnam War and later was a machinist in the mining industry.

He was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Carolina Panthers, Connecticut Huskies women’s basketball, St. Louis Cardinals and Blues, Arizona Diamondbacks, Arizona State Sun Devils, Phoenix Suns and any team playing the Dallas Cowboys on TV, and it was always "beer thirty."

Survivors include two sons, Jon E. Hickman of San Tan Valley and Michael D. Hickman of of Kingwood, Texas; a daughter, Anna M. Miranda of Santa Fe, New Mexico; six brothers, five sisters; his father, Forrest Hickman of Idaho; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edilia L.; his mother, Dorothy Moore; and two brothers.
