Richard "Rick" Golden

Richard Leonard "Rick" Golden, 80, of Casa Grande died on July 23, 2014, at home.

Mr. Golden was born on Dec. 8, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York, and was a son of Ben and Kate Cohen Golden. He served in the Army after being in ROTC at Hofstra College (now University) in New York. He wanted to come West and did so in 1973, settling first in El Paso, Texas, and then southern New Mexico. He was an industrial engineer and physical plant director for Las Cruces Public Schools before retiring.

He and his wife became full-time RV’ers in 1999 and traveled the country for 101⁄2 years. He loved the Northwest and West and settled in Casa Grande at the end of 2009 due to health problems. An avid bowler, he also loved the outdoors, riding horses and being on dirt roads. Children and animals loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Jole; seven daughters, Helene Price of Naples, Florida, Debra Pazos of El Paso, Sharon Gostnell of Lake Worth, Florida, Bonnie Martinez of El Paso, Jennifer Golden of Gilbert, Rebecca Golden of Phoenix and Elizabeth Merrilees of Olympia, Washington; three sons, Michael Atlas of Buffalo, New York, Daniel Atlas of Everett, Washington, and Matthew Atlas of Brooklyn; a sister, Phyllis Overman of Gastonia, North Carolina; a brother, Howard Golden of New Jersey; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David Atlas.
