SACATON — Richard Dean Thompson, 68, of Sacaton died on March 2, 2012.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the District 3 Service Center, with rosary recited at 5. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Mission in Sacaton by the Rev. Ed Meulemans. Burial will be in East Sacaton Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson was born on July 7, 1943. He worked for the Gila River Indian Community for more than 35 years as a planner, administrator, director of adult education and with the Neighborhood Youth Corps. He was a big fan of University of Arizona teams and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved reading and bowling.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; two daughters, Judi and Tracey Thompson of Sacaton; his mother, Edith Huckabay of Sacaton; two brothers, Edmund L. Thompson of Sacaton and Jonathan Thompson of Santan; a sister, Pamela Thompson of Gilbert; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Nathan Thompson Jr., and two sons, Marcus and William Thompson.
