Robert "Bob" Sommers of Casa Grande, AZ passed away November 22, 2011. He grew up and attended elementary and high school in Elizabethton, TN. Upon graduation he joined the Air Force stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson as a mechanic. Where he then met Marilyn Matthews and was married 2 years later at Santa Rita Catholic Church in Vail, AZ. Moving to Casa Grande, he opened Sommers Auto Glass and later opened Sommers Locksmith. Bob was active in the Catholic church. With his devotion, he led the morning rosary every morning for over 20 years. He also had plenty of time for being part of the Monday Morning Cleaning Angels and have breakfast with the crew. Bob spent many years traveling weekends to St. Helen's Church in Oracle, AZ. He had a special love for the parish and became active in the church. He enjoyed the outdoors riding his motorcycles for long distances across the United States and Canada for 5 weeks each year. Bob will be remembered in Casa Grande for his friendship and generosity throughout the years.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn; two sons, Justin and Chris; three grandchildren, Clay, Keziah and Breanna. He was one of four siblings and is survived by John of Johnson City, TN.
Services will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church located at 201 E. 2nd Street, Casa Grande, AZ on Saturday, November 26, 2011. Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. with the rosary to follow at 10 a.m. A mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. with Father John Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at Casa Grande Mt. View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Valley Humane Society.
