Robert Mayes

COOLIDGE - Robert "Tex" Mayes, 82, of Coolidge died March 24, 2009 in Mesa.


Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at Azusa World Ministries. The funeral there will follow at 11, with Pastor Vince Smith officiating. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park.

Mr. Mayes was born Aug. 24, 1926 in Hempstead, Texas. He was a corrections officer. He was so funny that people said he should have been a comedian. He enjoyed fishing, dressing nicely, straight pipes on all his vehicles and the blues on Sunday night radio. He always spoke his mind.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Maudie B.; two sons, Dion L. Mayes of Coolidge and Darryl L. Mayes of California; two daughters, Rosie L. Mayes of Coolidge and Ballari J. Mayes of California; two sisters, Roberta Mayes of Houston and Eva Mayes; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Mayes.
