FLORENCE - Robert R. "Bob" Avenetti, 93, died on Oct. 23, 2018.
Mr. Avenetti was born on July 3, 1925, en route to California and raised in Florence, a son of John and Lina Avenetti and grandson of Italian immigrant Juan Avenetti. He joined the Navy as a teenager and served in World War II and two tours in Korea. After his discharge, he lived in San Diego and worked for a major tuna fishing company for nine years, then later owned a restaurant and janitorial service before returning to his roots in Florence in 1984.
Sometimes called "Rev. Bob," he was a jack-of-all-trades handyman and known as a "go-to fix-it guy." He stayed active after retiring as a Walmart greeter for years. His interaction and love for his communities of Casa Grande, Coolidge and Florence provided a foundation for his active participation in Christian endeavors.
Survivors include a son, Bryan Avenetti of Upland, California; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial service pending.
J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud Coolidge Chapel in charge of arrangements.
