Robert Arviso "Bobby" Sotelo Sr., 78, of Casa Grande died on April 19, 2013, at home.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited at 11. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. by the Rev. John Arnold. Burial will be in Santa Rosa Cemetery on the Tohono O'odham Nation.
Mr. Sotelo, who also was known as Cepillo, was born on March 20, 1935, in Glendale and was a son of Pedro and Rosa Sotelo. He later had a stepfather, Andres Madrigal. He was raised in Tolleson and was a heavy-equipment operator for 50 years and a member of Operating Engineers Local 428 for 45 years, operating various types of equipment.
He was part of a mariachi group, sang and played various musical instruments. He also enjoyed and drove racing cars in the Amateur Street Stock division. He loved spending time with his family and was a good friend and mentor. He was a big Green Bay Packers and Arizona Wildcats fan. He was a funny man who loved to talk and reminisce about good times and gave everyone a special nickname.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Guadalupe Quinonez. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rosemary; five sons, Robert Jr., Richard Sr., Raul Sr., Rojelio Sr. and Ruben Sr., all of Casa Grande; three daughters, Rebecca Sotelo of Casa Grande, Ranae Duran of Casa Grande and Raquel Sotelo of Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers, Raymond Sotelo of Peoria and Luis Madrigal of Tolleson; four sisters, Nellie Gutierrez of Phoenix, Paula Ainsa of Tolleson, Mercy Ruiz of Tolleson and Rebecca DeLeon of Phoenix; 60 grandchildren; 105 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
