Roberto Serrano Martinez Sr., 62, of Arizona City died on Oct. 23, 2010.
A private service is planned later.
Mr. Martinez was born on May 19, 1948, in Eloy and was a son of Felipe Martinez and Eva Serrano Silvas. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and received four Purple Heart Medals. He was a farm worker.
Survivors include his partner of 18 years, Cinthia Contreras; three sons, Robert Anthony Martinez of San Benito, Texas, Roberto S. Martinez Jr. and Lewis Martinez of Washington; four daughters, Isabel Martinez, Michelle, Maranda and Sadra Martinez, all of Washington; five brothers, Cosme Velazquez Sr. and Lupe Espinoza of Casa Grande, Thomas Martinez of Indio, Calif., Andy Silvas Sr. of Spokane Valley, Wash., and Frank Silvas Sr. of Tucson; three sisters, Maryhelen Nieto of Arizona City, Belen Samora of Indio and Rosie Sousa of Tucson; 23 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Genaro DeLaTorre Sr., Pedro Martinez, Marcos Silvas Sr. and Miguel Silvas Sr., and a sister, Sarah DeLuna.
