Roger "Yogi" Balzan

October 1, 1941 — May 22, 2024

Eloy

Roger "Yogi" Balzan age 82 of Eloy (Robson Ranch) passed away on Wednesday May 22, 2024 at his home.  Born October 1, 1941 in Plymouth, Wisconsin.  He married Linda Phipps in Plymouth, Wisconsin on July 28, 1962.

Mr. Balzan was #1 Green Bay Packers fan ever since the 1967 NFL Championship "Ice Bowl" game where Yogi quoted "If Bart Star scores a touchdown, I'm jumping the wall".  Of course he was in the front row of the endzone with Linda and witnessed the history making touchdown, then over the wall he went.

Roger was a dedicated follower of the Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Cubs and NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Sr. and then others.  Roger was a Teamster for 33 years, driving 18 wheelers for several companies mostly in the mid-west state.  On weekends, Roger was a family man.  Taking the family to RV/theme parks, bowling, cabins on the lake and visiting all the friends and families.  Roger was also a member of the Jaycees, Lions, Police Reserves and volunteered events at Palm Creek in Casa Grande.  He is a current member of the Rock Springs church at Robson Ranch.

After 65 years in Plymouth, Wisconsin Roger and Linda moved to Casa Grande in 2000 and then later to Robson Ranch.

He is survived by his wife Linda Balzan of Robson Ranch (Eloy), Arizona; children, Debbie Bergin of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; Russell Balzan of Scottsdale, Arizona; Pam Petermann of West Bend, Wisconsin and Becky Zeeveld of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin; sister, Janet Lehrke of Cleveland, Wisconsin; sister in laws, Mollie Bandy of Eugene, Oregon and Judy Phipps of New Berlin, Wisconsin.  Also survived by seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.  Preceded in death by his parents, Orlando and Hattie Balzan.

A Celebration of Life event is being planned for July 20th, 2024 in Plymouth, Wisconsin, where his remains will be laid to rest.
