Roland Kalka

COOLIDGE - Roland Kalka, 48, of Coolidge died on Dec. 19, 2014, at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa.

Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the District 4 Service Center in Santan. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. today at Upper Santan Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Aaron Johns officiating. Burial will be in Upper Santan Cemetery.

Mr. Kalka was born on Jan. 3, 1966, in Sacaton and was a son of Clinton Kalka and Lucille Antone. He worked at a tire shop and was a 49ers fan. He liked to watch football, play with his grandkids, go on walks and do yard work and anything outside. He was always fixing things and liked to talk, play cards, listen to music, draw and hang out with friends. He was very traditional about his Native American heritage.

Survivors include his companion, Ilea Johns; four sons, Brandon Kalka of Casa Blanca, Sammy Moore Jr. of Coolidge, Michael Moore Sr. of Tempe and Gordon Emerson Jr. of Coolidge; four daughters, Natasha Moore, Kendra James, Shaina Johns and Raquel Emerson, all of Coolidge; three brothers, Clinton Kalka Jr. of Phoenix, O’Neil Jordan and Samuel Kalka of Sacaton; four sisters, Barbara Young and Julie Kalka of Stotonic, Toya Jones of Coolidge and Joyce Kalka of Beaumont, California; and 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tyrone Kalka; and two sisters, Colleen Young and Chandis Kalka.
