CASA BLANCA — Ronald Nolan “Jude” Lewis, 61, died Sept. 2, 2009, at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix.
Visitation will be from 6 to 11 p.m. Wednesday at the Cecil Lewis home in Casa Blanca, and continuing later at his parents’ home, Southern and Orchard roads in Gila River District 5. The funeral will be at 6 a.m. Thursday at Vah-Ki Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Aaron Johns officiating. Burial will be in Stotonic Cemetery.
Mr. Lewis was born July 21, 1948, in Sacaton and was a son of Bernard and Myra Lewis. He was a cowboy and slept under the stars during roundup for Puella Cattle Co. near Topawa in the Tohono O’odham Nation. He enjoyed team roping, shoeing and breaking horses. He was injured many times but always got back in the saddle.
Survivors include two brothers, Cecil R. and Leon V. Lewis of Casa Blanca; three sisters, Verda L. and Bernadean C. Lewis of Casa Blanca and Loranda J. Carlos of Salt River; and three godchildren, Marcos Echeverria Jr. of Stotonic, Avery Lewis of Casa Blanca and Jeremy Baca of Phoenix. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bernell F. Lewis, and two sisters, Myrna “Big Bigsiell” Lewis and Pansy “Sig” Lewis.
