SACATON - Ronald Sam, 65, of Sacaton died on June 25, 2015, at home.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the District 3 Service Center, with a service following from 6 to 10. The funeral will be at 6:30 a.m. Thursday at River of Life Assembly of God in Sacaton, with Pastor Lorenzo Coops officiating.
Mr. Sam was born on June 4, 1950, in Yerington, Nevada, and was a son of Iva Reymus. He served in the Army as an Airborne Ranger and later worked for Gila River Farms. He was devoted to his family and friends. He enjoyed working outside, sitting under a tree with his dogs and fixing "anything that didn’t need fixing," his family said.
He also loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, boxing and UFC fighting, listening to the Sneezy Boys and dancing. He took great pride and enjoyment in spending time with his wife and grandkids, especially having dinner, going for a drive, sitting around telling jokes or just lounging and watching TV.
Survivors include his wife, Lilly; a son, Jeremy Sam of Sacaton Flats; a daughter, Delilah Sam of Sacaton Flats; two brothers, Victor Sam of Campbell Ranch, Nevada, and Arnold Sam of Minnesota; two sisters, Geraldine Garcia of Campbell Ranch and Helen Tom of Yerington; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jackson D. Sam; two brothers, Gerald and Dean Sam; and a sister, Verna J. Sam Quartz.
