Ronald Raymond Whitt, affectionately known as Bubba, entered this world on October 22, 1967, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the only child of Bernard and Donna (Burden) and was raised by his strong and loving single mother. He suddenly and peacefully departed from life on September 9, 2024, in Chandler, Arizona. He journeyed through life as a remarkable husband, son, step father, brother, and friend, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories for those who had the privilege to know him.
Ron dedicated over two decades of his life to Boeing in Mesa, Arizona, working with the U.S. Government on the development and production of the Apache Military helicopter. His commitment to excellence was mirrored by his academic accomplishments, as he earned top grades at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. A brilliant mind, he was also famously organized, reigning supreme as the "King of spreadsheets". Despite his stubborn and prideful tendencies, he was never shy to admit when he was wrong, showcasing a humility that endeared him to many.
With a personality fueled by humor and adventure, Ron’s laughter was legendary. Kelly, his best friend and partner in crime, recollects how the moment he smiled at her during their first date, she instantly felt safe and at home. His consideration for others always came first; he made it a priority to ensure that his loved ones were cared for with the finest of what he could provide. Bubba's generous spirit was evident in his love for life—a life filled with thrilling pursuits ranging from sky diving, camping, and mountain climbing, to attending the Indianapolis 500 and indulging his passion for drag racing. Whether participating in competitive shooting or simply reveling in the beauty of nature, he embraced every opportunity to forge unforgettable experiences with cherished home town friends.
Ron adored music, finding resonance in the Canadian rock band, Rush, and filled his home with laughter, love, and the soundtrack of his favorite melodies. He was a wellspring of knowledge, familiar with the script of nearly every episode of the Andy Griffith Show and captivated by history in all its forms. Some of his most treasured memories are those of summer vacations to the Smokey Mountains with his mom and Grandma and Grandpa Burden. He also looked back on vacations to Florida with his dad and stepmom and stepbrothers with joy. As wild as his adventures were, they only magnified the depth of his character; he embraced life with an enthusiasm that inspired those around him.
In his passing, he is mourned by those who loved him dearly. He leaves behind the love of his life Kelly (Tootie), dedicated mother Donna and stepfather Tom Rave, and stepsons David (Minerva) and Ian and grandchildren, alongside a wealth of aunts, uncles, cousins, six stepsiblings, and his in-laws, that he truly admired and a legion of lifelong friends. Ron was predeceased by his father, Bernard, and stepmother, Pam Whitt, his dear grandparents, and beloved family dogs—an absence felt keenly by all whose lives he touched.
On October 26, 2024, beginning at 2:00 PM, friends and family will gather at the Whitt Home in Maricopa, Arizona, to celebrate Bubba's vibrant life—a life that was lived to the fullest and filled with the laughter he so freely shared.
