Roosevelt Walker, 102, of Eloy died July 23, 2007 at home.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at Mount Zion Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 10, with the Rev. Charlie Joe Payne officiating. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Mr. Walker was born Nov. 4, 1904 in Tulsa, Okla., and was a son of Monroe and Hattie Walker. He was a laborer. He enjoyed gardening, working in the yard and sitting on the porch.
Survivors include nine sons, Tommie McWilliams of Stockton, Calif., Henry Lewis of Compton, Calif., Rudell Walker of Long Beach, Calif., Lendell Walker of Eloy, Steve Walker of Los Angeles, Donny and Larry Walker of Seattle, Michael Walker of Eloy and Roosevelt Walker Jr. of Long Island, N.Y.; six daughters, Iva Wells of Chicago, Ruth Ticey of Kansas City, Mo., Ivy Johnson of Oakland, Calif., Betty Thompson of Eloy, Gloria Sutton of Phoenix and Shirley Walker of Seattle; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; a son, John Vester Lewis; and a daughter, Vernice Powell.
