STANFIELD - Rosa Avila Quintanar, 89, a homemaker and longtime Stanfield resident, died peacefully on Feb. 14, 2016, at Lita Caring Home in Casa Grande.
Mrs. Quintanar was born on Aug. 30, 1926, in Plateros, Zacatecas, Mexico, and was a daughter of Pedro Medina and Panfila Avila. She was a very loving, giving and consoling person with many friends - known as "Aunt" or "Grandma" to some of them. A widow since 1970, she enjoyed being socially active.
She was loved and respected by all who knew her. "Primero Dios" was her continual statement of her trust in God. She leaves a wonderful legacy of faith, family and friendships.
Survivors include four sons, Joe Quintanar of Stanfield, Manuel and Angel Quintanar of Casa Grande and Tony Quintanar of Mesa; four daughters, Stela Sanchez of Mesa, Rosie Ybarra, Lupe Quintanar and Carmen Guzman, all of Casa Grande; two sisters, Angela and Amelia; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pasqual; two daughters, Maria Romero and Vincenta Alvarado; a son, Pedro "Pete" Quintanar; a brother, Antonio; and a sister, Josephina.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Feb. 26 at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel. The service will follow at 10, with Pastor Valente Chelaya officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
