Rosa E. Bruce, 60, of Casa Grande, AZ passed away on July 24, 2017. She was born in El Claro, Sonora, Mexico on December 21, 1956 to Jesus and Elisa Hernandez. Rosa was a luminary in our community for over 30 years. She worked tirelessly as an advocate in supporting the lower-income families throughout Pinal County. As the Director of Housing for the City of Casa Grande, she helped hundreds of families find affordable housing via government assistance and created a program that is still highly regarded on the national scale. She was appointed to several state and national committees and received accolades from past US Presidents and members of legislature throughout her career. In addition, she served as a local police officer, created countless artwork for City of Casa Grande campaigns, provided Spanish interpretation for the local courts, and represented Pinal County as a Harvard University Fellow. She was an amazing and irreplaceable member of our community and a wonderful person. She will be missed dearly.
Rosa is survived by her husband, Charles "Alton" Bruce; her three children, Rudy Benitez, Daniella Benitez and Brandon Bruce; her sister, Eloisa Fritz; three grandchildren and her mother, Elisa Hernandez. She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole and Maud, Gardens Chapel from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Rosary will be held Monday, July 31, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at the Gardens with scripture service to follow. Father Alan Valencia will be officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Eloy Memorial Park.
